Legend of San Felipe

Every country and town have their own history and legends. San Felipe has deep legends because the Mexican heritage. Legends usually come from some heard something or someone a long time ago told the story about something or some place. Legends are made from history. Sometimes legends are inscribed in books, stories from the local people or found on cave walls.
San Felipe's legends exist, like the Giant Cardon. The Giant Cardon is a cactus that is growing in San Felipe desert. This cactus has been there in the desert for hundreds of years. Why is it so special? Baja wanted the giant cactus to be in the World Fair to be admired for it's height and greatness as a natural plant. The giant cactus grew so big that when they wanted to move it to bring to the World Fair it was impossible at first. The giant cactus stood 45 feet tall. They tried to immobilize it with a heavy duty crane but nothing would move that plant. They were out of luck. The world fair in Spain finally received the famous giant cactus, but San Felipe will never forget how long it took to up-root it and send it across the seas. It did eventually returned, never looking the same.

  1. I can't even imagine a 45 foot tall cactus! That's amazing and something that shouldn't be missed in San Felipe.
